The Carlyle

The Carlyle is an emblem of New York glamour and luxury. Nestled in the heart of the Upper East Side, the hotel is legendary for its first-class combination of discretion and grace. Designed by the noted architectural firm Bien & Prince and named in honor of British essayist Thomas Carlyle, the hotel has been a Manhattan landmark for decades. The Carlyle features 190 rooms and suites with stunning views of Central Park and New York, serving an impressive list of guests and visitors. Every American president since Truman has visited, and its rich history includes visiting Royals and heads-of-state — HRH, The Prince of Wales; the late Diana, Princess of Wales; The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, their Majesties, the Kings and Queens of Denmark, Greece, Spain and Sweden have all visited.

The king-bed Carlyle Suites are all individually decorated, with styles ranging from a classic Anglo-Saxon private home to a more contemporary, yet timeless environment. The living space varies from 800 to 1,000 sq. ft. with views of either 76th Street or Madison Avenue. In addition, the suites also feature a spacious entrance foyer, separate living room and bedroom, kitchenette or full kitchen, small dining area, hardwood floors, luxurious wool area rugs, custom fabrics and linen and original artwork adorning the walls. A select few also contain baby grand pianos, and several suites may be converted into two or three-bedroom suites. The Carlyle Suites are located on floors five through 18.

As the most luxurious one-bedroom suites at The Carlyle, the Central Park Tower Suites are king-bed and individually decorated with 1,200 sq. ft. of living space, featuring a large kitchen, exclusive corner bedroom and unobstructed views of Central Park. With floor-to-ceiling picture windows, guests can enjoy breathtaking vistas of the Manhattan skyline. Through the foyer, the suites are able to connect to a second bedroom offering either one king or two twin beds to create a superb two-bedroom suite. In addition, some of the Central Park Tower Suites can join to another room and become grand three-bedroom suites.

The Central Park View Suite offers some of the best views of Central Park in all of New York. Through the living room’s picture window, guests can enjoy unobstructed panoramas of the entire park and the Manhattan skyline. Spectacular views of both the park and the city may also be experienced from the master bedroom. In addition, the suite is handsomely appointed with beautiful antiques, rare prints and rich fabrics. The Central Park View Suite is located on the 33rd floor.

The well appointed Deluxe Rooms span 475 sq. ft. and are all individually decorated. Overlooking Madison Avenue or 76th Street, the rooms feature a king bed or two twin beds, a large entrance foyer, spacious closets and a cozy seating area. Located on floors three through 27, Deluxe Rooms are ideal for guests staying longer in the city.

The Deluxe Suites are spacious, one-bedroom suites that contain 700 to 850 sq. ft. of living space and views of either 76th Street or Madison Avenue. These king bedded suites also feature a large living room and bedroom, entrance foyer, ample closet space and some feature one-and-a-half baths and kitchenettes. Tastefully and individually decorated, each suite resembles a traditional English residence with timeless touches that include hardwood floors, luxurious wool area rugs, custom fabrics and linen and original artwork.

Designed by renowned interior designer Alexandra Champalimaud, the 400-sq.-ft. Deluxe Tower Rooms feature uninterrupted vistas of the Manhattan skyline. Each room is individually designed, blending modern flair with The Carlyle’s storied past with fine antiques, exquisite wool carpeting and luxurious fabrics. Deluxe Tower Rooms are located on floors 20 through 33.

The Empire Suite, a spacious three-bedroom duplex located on floors 28 and 29, offers the best of both worlds. Blurring the line between hotel accommodations and a residential apartment, this one-of-a-kind suite was designed by Thierry Despont and presents 2,600 sq. ft. of living space, king-bed accommodations, four-and-a-half bathrooms, an office equipped with an Apple computer, full kitchen, separate sitting room and a private art collection. Both the living room and master bedroom feature unobstructed views of Central Park with floor-to-ceiling picture windows.

The Carlyle’s Premier Two-Bedroom Suites offer all the conveniences of luxury hotel living in beautiful, individually appointed accommodations. These grand suites are ideal for families and feature two bedrooms and bathrooms, a full kitchen, dining room and a spacious living room.

The 500-sq.-ft. Premier Rooms overlook Madison Avenue and feature a king bed and four-fixture marble bathroom that includes a separate soaking tub and rain shower. Designed by Alexandra Champalimaud and DiSanto & Associates, each room is tastefully decorated with classic furnishings and Art Deco touches to showcase the hotel’s original hardwood floors, custom fabrics and unique artwork. Premier Rooms are located on floors four through 12.

The 800 sq. ft. Premier Suites overlook 76th Street and feature a king bed and four-fixture marble bathroom that includes a separate soaking tub and rain shower. Designed by Alexandra Champalimaud and DiSanto & Associates, the suites are uniquely fashioned in a contemporary Louis XVI decor with deep-colored walls, original hardwood floors, spacious closets, custom-made wool carpeting, luxurious linens and elegant artwork. Many suites also offer both a pantry and powder room. Premier Suites are located on floors three through 10.

Offering living space that ranges from 350 to 400 square feet with a choice of either a king bed or two twin beds, The Carlyle’s Superior Rooms features views overlooking a quiet courtyard, 76th Street or Madison Avenue. Each guestroom is elegantly decorated in a classic English style with the hotel’s original hardwood floors, custom fabrics, original Audubon prints and Piranese and Kips artwork on display. Superior Rooms are located on floors three through 19.

Measuring 1,100 sq. ft. the Superior Two-Bedroom Suites feature a king-bed master bedroom and a second bedroom with two twin beds. Elegantly appointed, these spacious suites provide guests with a quiet courtyard location, two full baths, full pantry, original hardwood floors, luxurious wool area rugs, custom fabrics and linen and original artwork adorning the walls. The Superior Two-Bedroom Suites are located on floors 15 and 16.
