Mauritius

In the heart of the Indian Ocean surrounded by turquoise waters you will find the island of Mauritius. It is the ideal tropical sanctuary for a luxury holiday. It is a volcanic island of lagoons and beaches lined with palm trees and a coastline surrounded by coral reefs. Embrace the supreme tranquility and exotic resorts in one of the premium holiday destinations in the world. The famed luxury resorts provide beachfront seats onto some of the most breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean, whilst providing impeccable service, superb facilities and refined rooms. Here you will be treated like royalty. Mark Twain once wrote, 'Mauritius was made first and then heaven, heaven being copied after Mauritius'. He was right.

Enjoy aquatic adventures such as kitesurfing, boat excursions, deep-sea fishing and snorkeling and diving amid fascinating coral reefs. You can also decide between an adventurous hike, horse riding and a round of golf on spectacular, championship-standard golf courses on the island. The mountainous interior includes Black River Gorges National Park, with rainforests, waterfalls, hiking trails and wildlife like the flying fox. Capital Port Louis has sites such as the Champs de Mars horse track, Eureka plantation house and 18th-century Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Gardens. Wildlife tourism in Mauritius is steadily gaining popularity. Mauritius has saved more bird species from extinction than any other country on earth, with the result that you can now see two of the loveliest birds of the Indian Ocean – the pink pigeon and the Mauritian kestrel – at various places around the island. Giant tortoises – in captivity in their hundreds, or roaming free on Île aux Aigrettes – are another drawcard, while dolphins, whales and sharks are just three highlights of the island’s richly biodiverse marine environment.

Things to do
Diving
Diving
Home to some of the worlds finest coral reefs and vividly colourful marine life, scuba diving in Mauritius is among the highlight attractions of the island. This popular activity showcases spectacular underwater scenery, teeming with mother nature’s most fascinating creations. Nothing quite gets your blood pumping like witnessing an innocent school of fish passing and then unexpectedly coming face to face with a majestic beast of the ocean. What makes this even more thrilling is that the water offers excellent visibility!
Swim With Dolphins & Whale Watching
Swim With Dolphins & Whale Watching
You’ll plunge into the remarkable world of these powerful marine mammals and come face to face with the dolphins. Unlike many other dolphin facilities that limit the swim with dolphins program to pools or shallow water, we provide the unique opportunity to enter the dolphins’ natural environment and enjoy an encounter with the dolphins in the open sea. You’ll be off, swimming with the dolphins! Snorkeling equipment is provided for you free of charge.
Parasailing
Parasailing
What is Parasailing? Parasailing, also known as parascending, is an activity where a person is towed behind a boat while attached to a specially designed parachute, known as a parasail. The boat then drives off, carrying the parascender into the air. If the boat is powerful enough, two or three people can parasail behind it at the same time.
Cuisine

The cuisine in Mauritius shows influences from Mauritius’ Indian, Chinese, French and Creole communities – making it a truly unique and aromatic experience. Mauritius is ideal for the foodies of the world wanting to experience fine dining at Five Star Resorts as well as local cuisine served fresh off the boat at the beachside cafes. Curries and seafood are plentiful and your taste buds are sure to be impressed with the vast array of cuisine on offer.

Weather
The temperature on the coastal areas varies between 22°C (71°F) in winter and 34°C (93°F) in summer. The sea temperature varies between 22°C (71°F) and 27°C (80°F). In the central part of the island, the maximum daytime temperature varies from about 19°C (66°F) in August to about 26°C (78°F) in February. The Western and Northern regions are warmer and relatively drier than the East and the South.
