Florence & Tuscany

Throughout Tuscany the spirit of the region is uniquely exuded by a combination of fierce pride and care for detail. It conjures images of sublime Renaissance art and landscapes famous for green vines in remarkably precise formation on gently rolling hills dipped in soft morning mist. Besides the famous and iconic city of Florence, explore the many pleasures of Tuscany including wine-tasting in Bolgheri Montalcino or Chianti, visits to jaw-dropping museums and monuments, and simple relaxing days in the piazzas of medieval towns. Whatever you choose to do, the amalgamation of exquisite art with picturesque countryside, and memorable cuisine and wine ensures a trip to this enchanting region is always unforgettable.

Birthplace of the Renaissance and home to masterpieces of art and architecture – Florence is simply magnetic. Explore the narrow streets which have evoked a thousand tales and some of the finest food and wine. For centuries Florence has captured the imaginations of travellers, who have come seeking escape from their decade, and to escape in rooms with views and phenomenal Renaissance art. Florence’s is a subtle beauty—taking on a certain magnificence when day breaks and the sun sets, when its muted colors glow in this light. Discover the magic of this beautiful city from the “The Gates of Paradise” – the magnificent doors of the Baptistery and the famous picturesque Ponte Vecchio bridge, flanked by vintage jewelers. Enjoy this beating heart of Renaissance society and exceptional craft, one of Italy’s most enchanting cities.

Weather

The climate in Tuscany is generally very mild with differences depending on the geography of each area. The coast and valleys tend to have hotter summers than the hills or mountains although the coast benefits from breezes off the sea for cooler temperatures.

April and May as well as October and November are good months to visit Tuscany: they have sunny days, with some rainy days as well. Winter offers many sunny, mild days but nights are cold, particularly in hill areas. Just dress in layers, to be prepared for shifts between daytime and evening.

The warmest months are generally July and August, while June and September offer both nice warm weather in general without it being too hot. Of course, there are always exceptions or dry spells that cause a few days to get really warm.

The coolest months are January and February, with January being a bit cooler. Temperatures tend to be about 7°C along the coast and from 3.5°C to 5.5°C inland. Temperatures in the mountains are below freezing, where snowfall attracts skiers, perfect for a winter holiday on the slopes!

On average, November is the month with the most precipitation but October, December, March and April also generally get a good amount of rain without being super wet. Every year is different so these are just to give you an idea of what to expect.
