Dallas, TX

Bright lights, big personalities, shiny cars... In many ways, Dallas is the belle of the Texas ball. From JR Ewing and the TV show Dallas to the Dallas Cowboys and their cheerleaders, this city has made a deep imprint on American popular culture. An upscale ethos makes for an amazing dining scene. The museums are not only excellent, but unique – history buffs should not miss the memorials to former president John F Kennedy. And one of the most impressive additions to Dallas’ cultural landscape in recent years is the 68-acre Arts District, now one of the largest in the country. You can’t forget about Texas Barbeque either! No bones about it: Texas barbecue is an obsession. Line up with the hordes for large helpings of slow-cooked beef brisket, pork ribs and spicy sausage doused in spicy-sweet barbecue sauce at some of the city’s best, including Sammy’s BBQ and Pecan Lodge. Of course, you know the Dallas Cowboys and their cheerleaders but that isn’t the only sports team Dallas has to offer. Catch a baseball game with the Rangers, a hockey game with the Stars or a basketball game with the Mavericks; this city is great for sports lovers!

Weather
The city of Dallas has a humid subtropical climate and experiences distinct four seasons with mild winters and hot summers. During the winter season, daytime highs above 65 °F (18 °C) are not unusual. On the other hand, a couple of times each year, warm and humid air from the south overrides cold, dry air, leading to freezing rain. Spring and autumn bring pleasant weather to the area. Vibrant wildflowers bloom in spring and are planted around the highways throughout Texas. Springtime weather can be quite volatile, but temperatures themselves are mild. The weather in Dallas is also generally pleasant between late September and early December, and unlike springtime, major storms rarely form in the area. Summers are hot, with temperatures approaching those of desert and semidesert locations of similar latitude. Heat waves can be severe. During the summer, the region receives warm and dry winds from the north and west.
